CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) – Construction is well underway on what many are hoping will be the crown jewel of living in this city’s downtown area — the Cosmopolitan of Corpus Christi.

You can already see the shell of the structure going up where the old Lichtenstein building once stood. The new $28 million high rise will feature 165 luxury apartments as well as a retail complex.

“By the end of the month, we’ll be done with the concrete structure completely. The full parking garage will be completed, and as you can see from your shots above, we really have been moving forward with the framing,” said Robert Howe of Realtex Development. “So the manpower has probably gone from 60 men to over 100 men a day on site, and we expect that will probably go up another 50 men in the next three or four weeks.”

The high rise is scheduled to open sometime next year.
